1. Revised Primary Science Curriculum

(I) Teaching and Learning in Northshore
Our Science programmes are structured to provide opportunities for our students to explore, investigate and discover knowledge. We want our students to develop attitudes which encourage them to be curious, persevering and concerned about their surroundings. We seek to fuel this spirit of inquiry and ultimately want our students to enjoy Science and value the discipline as an important tool in helping them understand and relate to their natural and physical world.

- Activity-based and Collaborative Learning using SPARKLE Kits

- Department Strategies for Scientific Discourse in Answering Questions

(II) Experiential Learning for Making Connections to Real Life Application
- Science Explorer Activities
Science Explorer at Northshore Primary School aims to provide students with the experiences to extend their learning of Science. These experiences include activities that allow them to connect the knowledge with real world applications and for them to show a deeper appreciation of science based on the contributions of scientists past and present.

Primary 3 Grow A Seed Programme by NParks
The “Every Child a Seed” programme is a yearly highlight for our Primary 3 students at Northshore Primary. Each student receives a plant starter kit from NParks and begins their own planting journey. Through this hands-on experience, students explore the plant life cycle, observing growth from seed to sprout. The programme nurtures responsibility and curiosity, while connecting classroom learning to real-world experiences and fostering a deeper appreciation for nature. -
P3 Grow a Mealworm Beetle
The Grow a Mealworm Beetle programme is another yearly highlight for our Primary 3 students at Northshore Primary. Each year, students have the chance to observe the life cycle of mealworm beetles firsthand, as they nurture and monitor the beetles through each stage of development. This hands-on learning experience, closely aligned with the Life Cycles of Animals topic, sparks curiosity and deepens understanding by allowing students to see concepts from their textbooks come alive. By connecting classroom science with real-world exploration, the program encourages a love for learning and inspires students to engage actively with scientific inquiry. -
P4 Fun with Matter
Our Primary 4 students embark on an exciting annual STEM experience, exploring the states of matter through engaging, hands-on activities. Through the use of dry ice and interactive demonstrations, they investigate how solids, liquids, and gases differ in shape, and volume. Students observe fascinating phase changes through practical experiments and have a good time making slime. They even get to take their slime home!

Differentiated Programmes for Northshoreans
Primary 4 and Primary 5 Excellence in 2000 (E2K) ScienceSelected P4 and P5 students are given opportunities to engage in scientific investigations involving advanced science concepts. The E2K sessions enable students to engage in scientific inquiry that helps them to develop the habits, attitudes and dispositions scientists possess as well as to gain 21st century competencies such as critical and inventive thinking and effective communication skills. The different experiments expose- them to various science apparatus. Working in teams allows students to overcome challenges when they encounter problems in their experiments.

Raffles Science Olympiad
The Raffles Science Olympiad is one of our school’s key Science enrichment programmes, organised in collaboration with Raffles Institution, to extend selected Primary 5 students’ learning beyond the classroom. Through this programme, selected students participate in hands-on challenges and investigative tasks across life sciences, physical sciences, and scientific inquiry, allowing them to deepen their understanding while developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. The Olympiad also builds confidence and resilience as students work in teams and apply their knowledge in new contexts, supporting our goal of nurturing curious, capable, and future-ready learners.
Primary 4 to Primary 6 Science Remediation Programme
Our school offers a structured remedial programme to support selected students in closing learning gaps. Through small-group instruction, teachers identify specific needs using assessments and provide targeted support to strengthen key concepts. Lessons include hands-on activities, guided practice, and timely feedback to build confidence and understanding.
